My Feng Shui researches 3 - Master Li Mak Cai李默齋 Grave

Confucian said, “「聽其言、觀其行」Listen to what is said and observe the conduct.” It also can be comprehended as “Listen to what the master teaches and verify with his works”.
Feng Shui is a practical knowledge, if you are following a master who can not show you any his successful cases both in burial Feng Shui or house Feng Shui, then there are something wrong with his knowledge.

Since Feng Shui is belonging to part of syllabus of Confucianism and “Combining together with theory and practice in one piece知行合一” or “Comparing your researches will make you understanding 格物致知” are the main concepts of Confucianism. These concepts are fit for any knowledge we have learnt.

On the same generation of the Master Chang蔣, there was another famous master in Canton, his name called Master Li Mak Cai李默齋. His book, Pic King Jap闢徑集was published by his great grand children on 1834. Compared with both Master Chang and Master Li’s books, we can say that Master Chang is more focus in the calculation of time and direction (compass school) but Master Li is more focus in the environment (form school).

Studying Master Li’s history, you will find some interesting Feng Shui stories. One of his famous Feng Shui story was advising the government to change Canton’s Feng Shui which proved very success after Feng Shui change. You can see Feng Shui is not only limited in the house or grave, its advance level is city and country planning.
A lot of his rich offspring are living in Hong Kong. The movie, 007 James Bond, also borrowed his offspring’s big house –“Lung Po - Dragon Garden” for filming in Hong Kong. In years 2006, the usage of Lung Po was fighting in the court by his offspring.
Base on the location selection and house building method in Lung Po, I can see his offspring still carry on his Feng Shui knowledge.

Master Li had a good planning for his own funeral; he found a place in Chung Shan中山 for his grave. He chose this place was involved a spiritual story. Before he got this grave, he already found another place for his grave, but during preparation of the land to the grave, he was so tire and then fell into sleeping. He dreamed the local earth god told him that this place was not belonging to him which belongs to Wong’s family. His grave was in Chung Shan. He stopped working on that land and then found the place where I show you in the photo.

To verify one’s knowledge in Feng Shui, the best method is visiting his own choice in his own grave. If his choice was different from his written, then his fame was only cheating the public.

On the purpose of verify the real knowledge from a good master and show my respect to him, I went with my in-house students to his grave in Chung Shan. The grave already 400 years old, it maintained very good, although the original environment change a lot but we still can see the reasons why he chose that place for himself.

The grave was hiding in a small forest, if we did have a local farmer to show us the path to the grave, it would be tough for us to find a path to get into it because the grasses and bushes as the shoulder’s height. Whether it had a snake or not in the grass, we could not see.

In my experiences, most of time when I do my research, there will be a helper on my way to assist me. It may be coincidence but I believed that there would be my previous lineage masters were taking care of me.
