Meaning of "Feng Shui Huan" Gua

| Many people have used “Feng Shui Huan†gua to represent Feng Shui; the reason for it, as you might know, is that “Feng Shui Huan†gua is composed by two different trigrams – the “Sun†gua and the “Hum†gua. “Sun†represents wind and “Hum†represents water, so it will seem very logical that using wind at the top and water at the bottom would create the best symbol for representing Feng Shui. However, is that always the case?
Many people have used “Feng Shui Huan†gua to represent Feng Shui; the reason for it, as you might know, is that “Feng Shui Huan†gua is composed by two different trigrams – the “Sun†gua and the “Hum†gua. “Sun†represents wind and “Hum†represents water, so it will seem very logical that using wind at the top and water at the bottom would create the best symbol for representing Feng Shui. However, is that always the case?
According to the 3rd edition of I-Ching Book published by the Singapore Association for I-Ching Studies in 1994, it stated: [In “Feng Shui Huan†gua,] the wind blows across the water, dispersing it into spume, mists, and eventually drying it up.
Based on the statement, we can see there is a state of changing within the image of the gua – water is separating from its original liquid form and evaporating in the wind. If this hexagram is separated into two trigrams, we can see the “Sun†or “Wind†gua on the top and the “Hum†or “Water†gua at the bottom. “Sun†gua with the wind’s behaviour, will try to slip into things, while “Hum†gua indicated a pit or a danger hole in the ground. As a result, when those two combined, it signifies entering into a danger place (wind sneaking into the pit).
Although the original I-Ching indicate that the final outcome of “Feng Shui Huan†is positive, the process of getting from the beginning to the end is dangerous. Since wind and water have their instability property, it represents many changes would occur along the way. Likewise, as stated in previous paragraph, the word “Huan†means dissolute or disperse in Chinese, it would carry this property. Hence, if this gua appeared in your augury, it could symbolize that the people involved do not get along too well and might dissolute in the end.
After learning the meaning of the “Feng Shui Huan†gua, you should realize that in I-Ching, not everything would be as straightforward as it seems. When things combine together, a totally different outcome might occur. Therefore, to be good in Augury, it is important to understand I-Ching and able to identify the relationship among things.
